Prince Edward Island
Twelve percent of the population of Prince Edward Island is bilingual, thanks mainly to French immersion classes and French language as first language programs in schools. The French community can be found principally in six regions that are all serviced by French schools. Francophones on the island are known for their commitment to their community and their involvement in the cooperative movement. They are active in all spheres of the society.
