Newfoundland and Labrador
In 2004, Newfoundland and Labrador celebrated the 500th anniversary of the French presence in their province. Small but dynamic, the Francophone community is represented by a federation that works closely with the provincial government to improve access to services in French in the following areas: education, justice, childhood development, tourism and health. In 1999, the Provincial Assembly officially declared May 30th the Francophone Provincial Day.
