This year, the RVF will follow the Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver. In that spirit, we have launched a three year project aimed at building bridges between the cities of Quebec and the Francophone communitites of Canada.
Riding on the excitement of the Games, our goal is to encourage and promote lively exchanges and etablish winning relationships.
For 2010, we have planned a series of activities linking the Francophone communitites from the country's provinces and territories with the demographically corresponding cities in Quebec, i.e. those having a similarly sized population.
For instance, Manitoba with its 44,000 Francophones could be paired up with Chambly and its 42,119 residents, just in the same manner as the 2,050 Francophones of Newfoundland and Labrador being matched with the 2,300 redisents of Saint-Gédéon de Beauce.
During the first year, most of the activities being planned will take place in Quebec. The activities will take shape in various formats: business leader's tour, academic and artistic exchanges, transfer of knowledge and expertise in the fields of tourism, sustainable development, etc.
In 2011, the relationship will flow in the opposite directino. The delegations representing the various cities in Quebec will travel to their partner province or territory to experience and share in all of the vitality of their sister Francophone communities.
2012 will focus on International Francophonie, with joint-delegations visiting international Francophone communities, thereby training the spotlight on the dynamism of Francophone Canadians over seas.
In the spirit of these exchanges, look out for the flags of Francophone communities that will fly proudly all over Quebec and participate in the numerous cultural, professional, educational or tourism-oriented events in your region!
