The 2020 Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, at the heart of change!
Ottawa, January 30, 2020 – As we enter the 22nd year of Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF), the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue is proud to unveil the theme of the 2020 edition and introduce its spokespersons. This national celebration will take place from March 1 to March 31, 2020.
Various facets of the environment will be addressed: the environment and climate change, as well as social environment, community environment and cultural environment.
The RVF has chosen a unifying national theme of current relevance: Les Rendez‑vous de la Francophonie: At the heart of a change. This theme will be central to the activities and contests that are part of the 2020 edition.
“A sustainable environment depends on a society that takes care of its people in all respects, including language. This society must show cross-cultural solidarity by supporting local initiatives that ensure the longevity, stability and development of Francophone communities that are firmly rooted in their environment across Canada,” says Guy Matte, Executive Director of the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue.
The RVF is happy to partner with two spokespersons to present the 22nd edition:
Anu Boucher is an Inuk who is passionate about her culture and the environment, two inseparable concepts. In addition to being involved in social action and defending Indigenous interests, she loves sharing her knowledge of Inuit history with anyone who wants to learn more about it.
Bernard Voyer is an explorer, mountaineer and motivational speaker. He has travelled to the coldest places on Earth, including the North Pole, Everest and Kilimanjaro. He is involved with youth and enjoys talking to them about his experiences, so as to inspire them to seek adventure for themselves and make their own discoveries.

Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie will be launched nationally on March 2, 2020. Until then, follow the Rendez-vous on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, using #RVFranco.
The Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue and its partners hope you enjoy the Rendez-vous, as you consider this question: “What positive mark will you leave on the environment?”
The RVF is part of the cultural events surrounding the Journée internationale de la Francophonie, held on March 20 each year to promote the French language and the many ways it can be expressed. Made possible through funding from the Government of Canada, the RVF is an initiative of the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue.
