Coming to a community near you … Francophone comedians!
Mariana Mazza. Mario Jean. Julien Dionne. Sinem Kara.
These are just a few of many talented comedians who are entertaining and inspiring Canadians during the Rendez-vous de la Francophonie Comedy Tour this year.
The nine-week tour started strong in Moncton, NB, on January 30th with the Un rire à l'autre Gala, an unforgettable evening of comedy hosted by Mehdi Bousaidan and Korine Côté. The program paid homage to New Brunswick comedian, Martin Saulnier, who passed away unexpectedly last year. Saulnier’s sister, Sylvie, encouraged the audience to celebrate and have fun, as her brother would have wanted them to. The gala was recorded by UNIS TV.
Later this month, the tour, which will visit 20 Canadian communities, moves west through Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, British Columbia, and Yukon, and then north to Nunavut - finishing in Cornwall, ON, on March 27th.
Humour brings people together - we all love to laugh. Francophone or Francophile, if you want to enjoy some fantastic French-language comedy, check the RVF website for a show near you.
Also, special events are planned for youth in Manitoba and Ontario. Camp Foud’rire (supported by the Franco-Manitoban School Division and immersion schools) is hosting a Mini Humor Gala on March 14th, and Franco-Ontarians from 12 to 18 years can try their luck in the Concours LOL-Mort de rire contest later in March.
The tour is supported by les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie, the Canadian Foundation for Cross-Cultural Dialogue, the Government of Canada, Just for Laughs, the Secrétariat aux relations canadiennes Québec, and SODEC Québec.
