One of the things I like about <\/span>Tout pour la musique<\/span><\/a> is that it introduces me to some of Canada\u2019s best musical artists.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Tout pour la musique is a celebration of Canada\u2019s Francophone artists held each year on June 24th, Saint-Jean-Baptiste Day. This year the event happens at Studio Bell in Calgary and can be viewed all over the country on UNIS TV.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are just a few of the artists I am looking forward to seeing:<\/span><\/p>\n

Missy D<\/span><\/a> is a Vancouver-based hip-hop\/ rap & soul artist who performs in both French and English. Her latest EP, <\/span>Case D\u00e9part<\/span><\/i><\/a> is a trip back to her roots as an 11-year-old schoolkid in Zimbabwe falling in love with hip hop en fran\u00e7ais.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

R & B singer <\/span>Corneille<\/span><\/a> was born in Germany, raised in Rwanda, and now lives in Quebec. His new album, <\/span>Encre Rose<\/span><\/a>, created with his spouse, lyricist Sofia de Medeiros, is a call for unity, openness, and love.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Alberta-born singer-songwriter and double bassist <\/span>Paul Cournoyer<\/span><\/a> was inspired to pursue a career in music at <\/span>La Chicane<\/span><\/a>, a music festival for young Franco-Albertans. Have a listen to the catchy, indie-folk songs on his 2019 album, <\/span>Le d\u00e9troit<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n

Singer-songwriter <\/span>Martha Wainwright<\/span><\/a> was born in New York City but raised in Montreal in a musical family. She sings in both English and French, and I have enjoyed her Edith Piaf tribute album, <\/span>Sans Fusils, Ni Souliers, \u00e0 Paris<\/span><\/i><\/a>, for years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
