{"id":9549,"date":"2022-03-09T16:14:00","date_gmt":"2022-03-09T21:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/rvf.ca\/?post_type=nouvelles&#038;p=9549"},"modified":"2022-03-09T16:14:00","modified_gmt":"2022-03-09T21:14:00","slug":"time-to-vote-for-your-favourite-recipes","status":"publish","type":"nouvelles","link":"https:\/\/rvf.ca\/en\/news\/time-to-vote-for-your-favourite-recipes\/","title":{"rendered":"Time to vote for your favourite recipes!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">From the east coast to the west coast, from south to north, food is one of the ways Canadians share culture and bring our family traditions to life.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The jury\u2019s <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/journal2022.rvf.ca\/en\/delectable-traditions-contest\/?fbclid=IwAR0fxxs0Cfp0yM_nIF-UE37zX8X_DivYc_7Je5_LqtEMA5LWM3Lc4r5akU4\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">shortlist<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> is out, and now it\u2019s up to you. <span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Vote between now and <\/strong><\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>March 31 at 11:59 p.m and you could win a $1,500 cash prize.<\/strong><\/span> Remember that you can increase your chances of winning by voting every day.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The three contest categories are:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Young chefs (age 17 and under)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Culinary artists (age 18 and older)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Family table (family)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h4>Young Chefs<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">young chefs<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> category, five-year-old Roxane Mozoluk, who lives in Halifax, Nova Scotia wants everyone to try her <strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">Canadian chocolate spread (good on pancakes!).<\/span> <\/strong>Sarnia&#8217;s Tiana Vall\u00e9e has shared her <strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">great grandmother&#8217;s almond cake recipe<\/span><\/strong> and Iqaluit&#8217;s Arthur Lagac\u00e9 takes inspiration from his <span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>grandmother\u2019s recipe for Friday Night Shepherd&#8217;s Pie.<\/strong><\/span> Aline Borowiec\u2019s <span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>cream pie<\/strong><\/span> recipe was a favourite of her great-grandmother H\u00e9l\u00e8ne and grandmother Jeanne. I must say, both of these pie recipes have caught my attention.<\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Culinary Artists<\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">There\u2019s a wonderful array of entries in the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">culinary artists<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> category too. Linda Hickey hails from St. John\u2019s, Newfoundland and Labrador, and her daughter-in-law\u2019s <span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Chicken Stew<\/strong><\/span> has enriched their family Christmases for the last 14 years. Jacques Watso, of Odanak, Quebec, shared a recipe for <\/span><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong><i>Sagamit\u00e9<\/i><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong> Watso<\/strong><\/span>, a traditional soup with nine varieties of beans, leached corn, vegetables, secret spices, red deer meat and a soup bone from the culinary heritage of the Abenakis of Odanak. Dhanya Proulx, who lives in my hometown of Nelson, British Columbia, says that her <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"><strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">Mandel Torte<\/span> <\/strong>(Almond and Raspberry Pie) reminds her of her family in Quebec. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Genevi\u00e8ve Ouellette of Rollo Bay, Prince Edward Island, loves to cook her <strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">M\u00e9m\u00e9re Bernier\u2019s Chicken fricot with Farfalles.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<h4>Family Table<\/h4>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Family table<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> category entries include everything from soup to babka. Sony Din\u2019s <strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">pho soup<\/span><\/strong> is a quick and satisfying Cambodian dish that her family in Saint-Hubert, Quebec, enjoys on Sundays. Luc J. Doucet of Dieppe, New Brunswick loves Cajun food and says that his <span style=\"color: #008080\"><strong>Cajun scallops au gratin<\/strong><\/span> is a must-have dish for family dinners or meals with friends. Khaidher Hammami in Ponteix, Saskatchewan, dreams of <strong><span style=\"color: #008080\">Djerbian rice and tuna brick<\/span><\/strong>, a favourite Tunisian dish.
