March, the month of La Francophonie

Ah, it’s the month of La Francophonie. What does RVF 2022 have in store for us?

Three fabulous contests, NFB/ONF films, the Just for Laughs Tour, the RVF Journal, community events all over Canada, and, new this year, a Francophonie Podcast

The podcasts are available in French and there are 18 episodes. Three are hosted by the RVF’s 2022 spokespersons Elisapie and Neev, and discuss family traditions, oral traditions, and culinary traditions.

15 episodes are hosted by my blogging colleague, Vanessa Lisabelle. Vanessa speaks (again about traditions) with an array of Canadian musicians, artists, authors, athletes, and storytellers.

Highlights of the podcast series (for me) include Vanessa’s interviews with Lucie Séguin, Chief Executive Officer of Canada’s Translation Bureau; Monique Poirier, Interim General and Artistic Director at Pays de la Sagouine, an Acadian theatrical village on an island in the middle of Bouctouche Bay, New Brunswick; Montreal-based author Kim Thuy; and Franco-Manitoban Métis storyteller Rob Malo

Have a listen if you can. And don’t forget the RVF’s virtual launch, coming up on March 1st at 12:30 pm EST.
