Francophone communities

In Canada, nearly 11 million people speak French, including 2.8 million outside Quebec. Francophones can be found in every province and territory. Take a trip to discover how French is spoken across the country. The information on the map is written in French.

The Interactive Map of Canadian Francophonie is a project of the Fédération des communautés francophones et acadienne (FCFA) du Canada, the national voice of 2.8 million Francophones living in nine provinces and three territories (excluding Quebec).  The FCFA wishes to acknowledge that the Francophone and Acadian communities it represents have developed, live, and thrive on the traditional lands of many Indigenous peoples.

Francophone communities

Canada is rich in Francophones, Acadians and Francophiles. These dynamic communities deserve to be known and recognized. With that in mind, we have created community profiles containing information about each community’s characteristics, organizations representing their Francophone population, as well as details on Francophone immigration, tourism and French immersion. Enter their fascinating worlds and learn about their culture—our culture.
