The RVF calendar of French and bilingual events is filling up!
Events include parent/baby yoga classes, sugar shacks, film screenings, community meals, art shows, sports events, and more, all over the country.
Two events in Canmore, Alberta caught my eye. The Canmore-Banff Region of Association canadienne-française de l’Alberta (ACFA) is hosting two free One Word at a Time Francophone Walks (Un mot à la fois) and three free outdoor public skating in French (patinage Francophone) events.
I called William Prince-Dufort, ACFA Canmore-Banff Region’s Event Coordinator, for more details. These events are for anyone, whether a beginner or fluent French speaker, who wants to enjoy the company of friends and neighbours in the great outdoors. And if you’re new to speaking French, what a great way to practise and increase your skills!
ACFA Canmore-Banff Region, which promotes the development of French life and culture within the Canmore-Banff francophone community, started offering outdoor activities during the pandemic as a way for people in the community to stay connected and the events have continued to be popular, drawing an average of 7 to 15 people each time.
The One Word at a Time Francophone Walks depart from the front of the Canmore Civic Center at 1:30 p.m. on March 7th and 21st. And skaters meet for the patinage Francophone at 1:00 p.m. at the Canmore Skating Pond on March 1st, 8th, and 15th.
