The 25th edition of Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie!

The Dialogue Foundation and its partners are launching the 25th edition of Les Rendez-vous de la Francophonie (RVF), which will take place from March 1 to 31, 2023. The theme for this year’s edition is “Celebrations.” Alexis Normand and Eddy King are the 2023 spokespersons for the RVF, with its wealth of opportunities to rejoice, celebrate, gather together and have fun. Activities will be taking place throughout the month, all across Canada.

In the words of Allister Surette, Chair of the Dialogue Foundation’s Board of Directors, “The Dialogue Foundation is very proud to launch this 25th edition of the RVF, which represents 25 years of celebrating the Canadian Francophonie in all its diversity. This is a time for all Canadians to discover the richness of the Canadian Francophonie and to join us in celebrating! We are enormously grateful for the contribution made by our many partners, without whom this event would not be possible.

A comedy show for the national launch!

On March 1, at 7:00 p.m. EST, a comedy show hosted by Eddy King will be held as part of the Just for Laughs tour’s 10th anniversary. The show, which is open to the public, will feature performances by Mario Jean, Jessica Chartrand, Luc Leblanc and Rachelle Elie.
The live show will be broadcast virtually on the rvf.ca site and on the RVF Facebook page.

Fun contests

Just as it does every year, the RVF is presenting a variety of contests designed to highlight the French language and culture. There’s something for everyone! Take a trip through the Canadian Francophonie with the new Tour the Francophonie contest, presented by Air
Canada, the Language Portal of Canada (an initiative of the Translation Bureau at Public Services and Procurement Canada) and Canada Post.

Give your listening and speaking skills a workout for a chance to win one of the 25 participation prizes in the Spicy Tongue Twister contest, taking place exclusively on social media!

Last but not least, test your language skills with the Write It Right! spelling challenges, and have fun watching the videos created by the finalists in the Les As du rire contest!

A nation-wide program of activities

On March 1, you’ll be able to see the complete program of activities for this edition, being held under the theme “Celebrations.” Access community and educational resources, check out the Youth section “Mini-Rendez-vous”, read articles from past editions of the RVF, watch free films from the National Film Board, learn about community activities, and find out the dates of the spokespersons’ tours.

Once again this year, through the Language Portal of Canada, Public Services and Procurement Canada’s Translation Bureau has a part in this must-attend event for Francophones and Francophiles throughout the country. We are very proud to contribute to these celebrations and to promote the different aspects of Francophone culture.” —Dominic Laporte, Chief Executive Officer of the Translation Bureau at Public Services and Procurement Canada.
