Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Canada’s Minister of Official Languages, wants to hear from all Canadians here and abroad about their views and priorities regarding official languages.

The Minister was just in Vancouver to announce country-wide consultations to inform the proposed modernization of the Official Languages Act, Bill C-13. The consultation will address current issues like Francophone immigration, the education continuum, and Canada’s immersion program.

The consultation offers all Canadians the opportunity to fill out an online questionnaire. There are also in-person forums (by invitation) planned in all ten provinces and three territories, to reflect the different linguistic realities of Canada. Finally, the Minister will consult with various levels of  government and other stakeholders.

I filled out the questionnaire today (it took me about 15 minutes). I encourage you to do so as well.
