The RVF’s 2024 contests — fun for everyone!

Every year, the RVF offers various contests that showcase the French language and Francophone and Acadian cultures. The 2024 theme is Launch into Discovery! so, this year’s five contests focus on themes of travel and discovery.

Franco-Tour, Explore the Francosphere, and The Activity That’s Going Places are open to everyone, and Mots en couleurs and Danser avec les mots are classroom-based activities to help students learn and have fun at the same time.

Contests for Everyone

Franco-Tour

Put your language skills to the test while you learn about five Canadian communities and their Francophone side(s). The tour takes you to the communities of Gravelbourg (SK), Miscou Island (NB), Canmore (AB), Nahanni Park (NWT), and Old Quebec (QC).

Answer five simple questions, and you can win a trip for two anywhere in Canada, including transportation courtesy of Air Canada and $2000 spending money. You can participate in both English and French and submit multiple entries (up to twice a day between now and March 31st.)

Franco-Tour is presented by Air Canada and the Language Portal of Canada (an initiative of the Translation Bureau at Public Services and Procurement Canada).

Explore the Francosphere

This contest invites you to discover Francophone and Acadian artists in three vast (metaphorical) regions: the Musical Mountains, the Literary Reefs and the Island of Variety. It is presented by NAV CANADA, VIA Rail Canada and Parks Canada.

Don’t miss your chance to win big! You can enter once a day, increasing your chances of winning. Two fantastic prizes are up for grabs: a $2,500 travel credit from VIA Rail Canada (with a Parks Canada Family Discovery Pass) and a Bigly Brothers GD96 drone worth $1,300.

The Activity That’s Going Places

This contest invites you to check out the RVF’s 2024 Events Calendar, choose an event in a city other than your hometown and fill out an entry form to win one of two prizes, each a $500 VIA Rail Canada travel credit and a Parks Canada Discovery Pass for the whole family.

Contests for Schools

Mots en couleurs

Elementary school teachers invite their students to identify French words or word groups written correctly in a comic strip. This contest is supported by the Language Portal of Canada and the Les libraires network, and the two winning entries will receive $500 prizes for the purchase of books.

Danser avec les mots

In this contest, supported by the Language Portal of Canada, French teachers can download an online learning kit and explore the lyrics to artist LeFLOFRANCO‘s “Danser avec toi” with various learning activities for their students. The prize is $1,000 toward a special activity for the school or the students.
